One of Jay and my favorite activities is doing tours and tastings at local vineyards and wineries. We are so lucky to have many great options here in Little Rhody!
Fall is a great time of year to visit our local vineyards and wineries – the weather and foliage are beautiful. But truly, we love to do this any time of year. Here is a list of the ones we have visited – you might be surprised how many there are just in Rhode Island!
Newport Vineyards – Middletown, RI – Delicious wine, and equally tasty food at their onsite restaurant, Brix. My best friend had her bridal shower here this year, and it was great!
Greenvale Vineyards – Portsmouth, RI – Not a far drive from Newport Vineyards, which makes it perfect for visiting two in one day! Their tasting room is cozy, and they have live jazz on Saturdays.
Carolyn’s Sakonnet Vineyards – Little Compton, RI – A bit of a drive, but definitely worth it! The grounds and wines here are spectacular. Sample their wines in one of two tasting rooms, and then purchase a bottle or a glass to enjoy on their expansive lawn that provides seating under umbrellas, or take a stroll down to the edge of the Watson Reservoir.
Verde Vineyards – Johnston, RI – A small vineyard with multiple award-winning wines to try. On a nice day, you can do a tasting inside and then bring your own snacks to enjoy outside at their picnic tables overlooking the vines.
Nickle Creek Vineyard – Foster, RI – Another small, family-owned vineyard. Sample their wines in the tasting room, then bring your own snacks and enjoy a glass or bottle out on the patio.
Purple Cat Winery & Brewery – Chepachet, RI – Here, you can do tastings of either (or both!) wine and beer inside the large barn decorated with purple lights. They also have a coffee shop that serves crepes and other tasty treats.
Here are some not too far away in Connecticut that we have also visited:
Stonington Vineyards – Stonington, CT
Jonathan Edwards Winery – North Stonington, CT
