One of Jay and my favorite activities is doing tours and tastings at local vineyards and wineries. We are so lucky to have many great options here in Little Rhody! Continue reading “RI Vineyard & Winery Roundup”
Here is part two of our recent trip to South Carolina – a weekend in Charleston! Continue reading “Charleston”
It’s been a while since I posted on here, but I have been so busy I just haven’t had the time. Now that things have calmed down, I’m sharing my most recent travel experience! Here is part one of our recent trip to South Carolina.
My cousins on my mom’s side, sister and I all decided that we wanted to take another trip together (parents included) since we haven’t done one since we were all in high school and middle school! We are close in age, grew up like siblings, and have always remained close as adults.
We settled on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina since we all love the beach, it’s easy to get to for all, and there is something for everyone to do there. Our original crew of twelve has now grown to seventeen including our significant others, so finding something to accommodate us all was the first challenge. My cousin Lisa and her husband Sean found numerous options for rental properties that would sleep all of us comfortably. We finally agreed on 1 Strath Court in the Palmetto Dunes community.
The house was beautiful and spacious – just what we needed! While I didn’t take many photos of the house myself, the photos in the listing I linked above definitely do it justice. The beach was only about a 10 minute walk away, and we rented beach chairs and umbrellas which were set up for us daily. The house also had a nice pool, which was great to come back too after a long day in the southern heat!
We spent a week laughing, joking drinking and eating. Some of us went horseback riding, played golf, rented jet skis, bicycles, canoes and kayaks. My cousins and I kicked the parents out of the kitchen on some nights and cooked for everyone – note our favorite, “Mexican night” above! We also went out to dinner two nights to two local favorites – Chow Daddy’s and Nick’s Steak and Seafood.
We went to a tiki bar, played mini golf and visited the beautiful marina at Shelter Cove. There was never a shortage of things to do on Hilton Head Island. I truly enjoyed the laid back “on island time” vibe.
The quality time spent with my family and the memories made will never be forgotten. We had such a great time and plan on doing it again someday – destination TBD, but Lisa and I have one in mind already!
Stay tuned for part two of our South Carolina adventure, when Jay and I took off to Charleston!
